Renewal and/or Expiration Notification

Renewal Notification

For active domains and monitorings setup for auto-renewal, you can activate and configure a report sending for upcoming domain renewals in the Account Settings:

Account Settings > Configuration Settings > Account Settings

Note: You can also receive notifications for other services in recurring billing. These can be for example local presence services (Trustee), Private Whois options, Registry Lock, or monitoring analysis.

Choose the recipients of these notifications.

Notifications are sent by default to the account email address and portal users.

Uncheck the "Users" box if you do not want portal users to receive them.

- Then, you choose the "Frequency of notification for upcoming domain renewals":
○ never
○ daily
○ weekly
○ monthly

Choose if and how often you wish to be informed by email about upcoming domain renewals.

- Finally, you choose when you want to be informed by email about upcoming domain renewals: How many days before the renewal (Renewal Start Date) do you want to be notified?

NB: in addition to these optional notifications, you also receive monthly invoices related to renewed domains.

• Notifications are sent by default to the account email address and portal users.

• You can manage this from the "Notification Recipients" section at the top of the form.

• You can also add any email address to receive all notifications sent to the account's main email address from the "Personal Data" section of account settings, by entering one or more email addresses to be copied in the "Other email recipients" field.

Expiration Notification

For deleted domains and/or domains set to auto-expire, you receive an email notification confirming deletion (Domains successfully deleted:).

Deleted domains can generally (depending on the TLD) be restored until the end of their grace or redemption period after deletion.

Domains set to auto-expire can generally (depending on the TLD) be restored until their deletion/expiration date, depending on the deletion date/period which you can check here.

You only receive an expiry notification for monitorings in auto-renewal mode.

You don't receive notifications for monitorings that are about to expire if they are not set up for auto-renewal.

What is a deletion or "delete"?
Deletion or "delete" is the operation that allows the removal of a domain name.

This operation does not result in the immediate removal of the domain name; it undergoes a 30-day redemption period before being permanently deleted. During this period, only the registrar responsible for the domain name can restore it to active status by performing a restore operation (charged the price of a creation which changes the domain name's anniversary date).

What is the redemption period?
The redemption period is the 30-day period starting from the deletion of a domain name during which it is possible to restore this domain name identically with the same registrar.

What is a restoration or "restore"?
The restoration operation allows restoring a domain name during the redemption period triggered by the deletion or "delete" operation.

Only the registrar that deleted the domain name can restore it during the redemption period. All other registrars must wait until the end of the redemption period to have the right to register it.

The restoration operation retains all Whois information of the domain name exactly as it existed before the deletion request.

During the redemption period, can the registrar who registered the domain name re-register the deleted domain name for another holder?
No, during its redemption period, a domain name can only be restored identically, that is: for the same holder and with the same registrar.

Additional information: Renewal Deadlines
When the "Renewal Start Date" set before a domain's expiration date is reached, we enter the phase where the system automatically and explicitly processes domain renewals. Automatic renewal will always occur when the "Renewal Start Date" is reached or passed.

The timing when we start issuing explicit renewals depends on the TLD, as does the timing when a domain is automatically renewed.

Important: Renewal may sometimes occur after the expiration date.

You may thus encounter cases where domains are renewed 15 days or even sometimes 30 days after their expiration date.

No worries as long as the domains are in active status and AUTORENEW on the portal.

For example and generally, .IT domains will always be renewed 15 days after their expiration date. For .IT domains in active status and AUTORENEW, the real or effective expiration date is 15 days after the expiration date currently shown on the portal and WHOIS.
