The BrandShelter Portal works with predefined name server (NS) sets for your domains. To change the name servers of a domain (DNS servers), you must first create a new NS set.
- Go to the Domains tab > DNS Server Sets.
- Click on "Create a new NS set".
- Enter the details of the new name servers (NS) you want to create.
- Complete the addition by clicking the “Create a new NS set” button.
Optional default setting:
You can set this new NS set as the default name server set for your future domain name registrations. Note that this action will not affect domains already registered: the current NS settings active on your existing domain portfolio will remain unchanged. To switch already registered domains to this new NS set, it is necessary to modify their DNS servers.
Note: By default, your domain is set up on BrandShelter NS (BrandShelter Standard or SafeBrands Standard as applicable) when you register it, unless otherwise specified with the addition of your client NS (NS set to be created) and creation of your custom zone file.
When creating your set, you can add as many DNS servers (primary and secondary) as you wish.
Changes are automatic and take effect in all cases after a propagation time (+ TTL value) of 24 to 72 hours following their validation.
Warning: If you change the DNS servers by replacing the BrandShelter NS (BrandShelter Standard or SafeBrands Standard as applicable) with those of another provider to outsource the DNS management of your domain, you will then be unable to use the redirection or customised DNS zone management services available on your BrandShelter Client Portal.
