Process and conditions for Outgoing Transfer

Before transferring your domain name from BrandShelter to another registrar (Outgoing Transfer), you will need to request the authorization key (in most extensions) called "authcode" or "EPP code" or "auth info" via your BrandShelter Customer Portal (Domains > Portfolio).

Note: Some extensions do not have an authorization code (as for .UK which instead requires you to fill in the ISP-Tag of the new registrar).

Also check the Whois to ensure that your domain name is not set to a blocking status "ClientTransferProhibited / Transfer Lock", and check if necessary the registrant and administrative contacts you have associated with it. Once you have received your authorization code, the status of your domain must be "PendingTransfer / OK for transfer" in order for your domain to be transferred to your new registrar.

Once you have received your transfer authorization code, you can initiate the transfer of your domain name to your new provider by formalizing your request, which usually requires to submit a proper order, and providing them with your transfer code.

Note: For extensions that do not require an authorization code, the transfer out procedure will be sent to you by email. From then on, BrandShelter will automatically validate the outbound transfer request as soon as it is made by the new registrar, usually within 5 days of the request.

If you want to speed up the process, please let us know about the transfer request and ask us for manual validation.

For legal entities only: a transfer authorization email can sometimes be sent to the current holder (represented by the administrative contact) to request confirmation of the operation as a security measure. The latter must then approve the transfer to the new entity within 7 days or the transaction will be cancelled. If the latter does not validate the transfer according to the terms indicated in the email, the transfer will not be successful and you may lose the domain name, hence the paramount importance of knowing the administrative contact associated with your domain name. Once the transfer request is validated, the transfer will usually take between 5 and 8 days to complete.

It should be noted, however, that this step is increasingly automated, especially with the implementation of the GDPR, and the masking of contact email addresses in the Whois directory, especially for natural persons: the validation of outgoing transfers by contacts of domain names is increasingly obsolete and unrequested.

We recommend that you request an authorization code to initiate the transfer of your domain, at least 1 month before your domain's expiration date, to avoid any risk of having to pay a renewal to transfer your domain.

The transfer of a domain name is considered a new registration. This means that you will pay the price of a new registration and the domain will have to be renewed exactly one year after the date of the transfer.

Important: Domain names must not have expired at the time of the authorization and/or transfer code request. In the case of an expired domain name, a renewal will be requested by BrandShelter in order to authorize the transfer. If your domain name has recently expired and is still in the redemption period (not available for registration in the public domain), it will be imperative to renew it first, often with restoration costs, in order to then be able to transfer it. In this case, you will pay 2 times for the registration of your domain name.

The other steps of the transfer operations will have to be carried out, monitored and managed with your new service provider / registrar.

Note:

Automatic domain deletion on our servers: After the transfer, the domain remains technically configured on the NS BrandShelter servers for 30 days. The domain will then continue to resolve using BrandShelter NS during 30 days.

After 30 days the domain is automatically removed from our NS and the attached DNS zone is deleted (automatic deletion on day 30).
